About this data
Council tax band data is sourced from the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), an executive agency of HM Revenue & Customs. The VOA is responsible for assigning council tax bands to all domestic properties in England and Wales.
Properties are banded from A (lowest value) to H (highest value) based on the property’s open market value at 1 April 1991 in England, or 1 April 2003 in Wales. The band determines how much council tax is payable, with Band D used as the reference point.
